The John J. Burns Library of Rare Books, Special Collections and University Archives will be open to researchers by appointment only from July 18th - August 26th, 2011.

Beginning next Monday, July 18th and going through Friday, August 26th, the John J. Burns Library’s elevator will be under construction.  This means that while the Burns Library building will remain open during our regular hours,  the Burns Library’s collections will be accessible to researchers on a limited basis, by appointment only.  Burns Library staff members will gladly consult with you to determine when the materials you need can be made available during construction. The library will endeavor to accommodate all appointment requests in a timely manner. To request an appointment, please call the Burns Library Reading Room at 617-552-4861 or e-mail us at burnsref@bc.edu.  In the meantime, you can learn more about John J. Burns Library by subscribing to our blog, checking out our Flickr photostream or reading our status updates on Facebook.  You can also access some of our collections online, including the Boston College yearbooks or Sub Turri’s (1913 – 1981) and the Bobbie Hanvey Photographic Archives.   The Irish Studies Research Guide is another useful online tool that will help you to navigate the many resources available in Irish history, literature, music, etc.   We do sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding while the John J. Burns Library’s elevator is under construction.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
